Gowanus is best known for the canal that flows through its heart, which happens to be one of the most polluted waterways in the world. Littlefield hosts music, comedy, film, dancing and visual art in a big old textile warehouse on a quiet block of Degraw Street. The sound system and lights are cutting edge, and the walls, floors, bar and tables are made with recycled tires, cork and wood from bowling alley lanes. The musical acts are diverse, in genre and fame, and the bar is extensive and wonderfully curated.
