South Slope is a quiet, laid-back, mashup of a Brooklyn neighborhood. Historical landmarks and treelined streets of row houses coexist with stretches of rugged industrial buildings. Nestled between the larger, bustling Park Slope and Sunset Park hoods, the more relaxed South Slope has come into its own in recent years as a destination for quality bars, restaurants and cafes.
The rustic, ‘garage sale hanging on the wall’ motif conjures up memories of my grandma’s house in the woods. Root’s successfully brings the warmth of a small slice of country to the city. The coffee is served strong with plenty of hearty comfort food options to snack on. This unassuming spot aims to make you feel like family.
