The city bills itself as the "Venice of America" but I don't know about all that. It is however, a pretty eclectic area with no shortage of sunshine or things to do. You can kayak through rich people's backyards, wander into a silent disco or find a coffee shop through a bookcase. What it lacks in mega-clubs & overpriced drinks, it makes up for with unique characters and some good vibes.
Fort Lauderdale is littered with waterways and channels, which can make for some great kayaking.
You can get eye level with everything from an alligator to a sea otter.
The bleeding corner of color still catches my attention. It's located in the middle of Fort Lauderdale and somehow most locals just forget it's there. With stellar rotating exhibits, weekly lectures, and art classes, the NSU Art Museum is absolutely worth the trip.
