The city bills itself as the "Venice of America" but I don't know about all that. It is however, a pretty eclectic area with no shortage of sunshine or things to do. You can kayak through rich people's backyards, wander into a silent disco or find a coffee shop through a bookcase. What it lacks in mega-clubs & overpriced drinks, it makes up for with unique characters and some good vibes.
Fort Lauderdale is littered with waterways and channels, which can make for some great kayaking.
You can get eye level with everything from an alligator to a sea otter.
The Alchemist made me realize that all breakfast sandwiches should come with avocado and a mason jar of iced coffee. Grabbing a quick bite to eat can easily turn into sitting on their porch for an hour and a half. It's a small, local coffee shop that has everything going for it.
