Nestled within hills and only 10 minutes northwest of Downtown LA, Silver Lake has been known to nurture musicians, independent artists, and writers. The neighborhood is peppered with iconic architecture by mid-century modernists such as John Lautner, Rudolph Schindler and Richard Neutra. The reservoir, although currently being drained, is an oasis within the city for people and nature. Alongside the neighborhood staples, Sunset Boulevard continues to flourish as a springboard for new shops and cafés. Although it's just the tip of the iceberg (there's a different experience here for everyone), here's a roundup of some of our favorite spots.
Floral elegance
LA Mill Coffee offers fine coffee and tea with a full service café or a walk-in counter. Walking distance from the Silver Lake reservoir, you can perch up with a laptop, have a meeting, eat a leisurely weekend brunch, or stop in for a quick coffee. Recommendations: Classic cappuccino, Iced Hong Kong Milk Tea and the Avocado Toast.
