District IX is one of the city’s fastest developing areas. The part inside Ferenc körút is a busy zone with the city’s most beautiful Market Hall, cafés, restaurants, and the spectacular Museum of Applied Arts. The area between Ferenc körút and Haller utca attracts tourists with great craft beers and cultural institutions, while the area behind Haller is still mainly industrial (with great architecture, though!).
Élesztőház claims it is the secret base of Hungarian beer-revolution and we can only agree. Situated in a big, quiet garden, the Beer Bar is a refreshingly calm and tourist-free ruin pub near Trafó. The facility also offers good food, cocktails, a restaurant set up in a private apartment, and rooms – just in case you would have too much of those famous Hungarian craft beers.
