District IX is one of the city’s fastest developing areas. The part inside Ferenc körút is a busy zone with the city’s most beautiful Market Hall, cafés, restaurants, and the spectacular Museum of Applied Arts. The area between Ferenc körút and Haller utca attracts tourists with great craft beers and cultural institutions, while the area behind Haller is still mainly industrial (with great architecture, though!).
In 2010, Costes was recognized by the biggest acknowledgement for restaurants: a Michelin star. Small wonder it has been a popular hot spot ever since, for locals and tourists alike. A must-see for fans of fine dining and wines (Costes offers more than 300 varieties of Hungarian wines), but make sure to book a table in advance when coming for dinner.
