District IX is one of the city’s fastest developing areas. The part inside Ferenc körút is a busy zone with the city’s most beautiful Market Hall, cafés, restaurants, and the spectacular Museum of Applied Arts. The area between Ferenc körút and Haller utca attracts tourists with great craft beers and cultural institutions, while the area behind Haller is still mainly industrial (with great architecture, though!).
Dedicated to the Hungarian victims of the Holocaust, the Memorial Center focuses on the process of history’s biggest genocide with a permanent exhibition and temporary shows. The building complex, awarded with different architectural prizes, also contains a synagogue built in 1923 (not in use today).
