Downtown Ithaca

In Ithaca, Downtown really is down town. Nestled at the bottom of 50 mile long Cayuga Lake and surrounded on three sides by hills, the city center looks up to Cornell University and Ithaca College and the older suburbs. There was a long-sustained rumor that the Little Rascals filmed their boxcar hill run on one of the tree-lined streets that heads straight into town, and when you visit you'll see why that was a hairy ride.

You'll forgive us if we seem a little jaded about the magnificent waterfalls in our little city of hills. We have an abundance. This one is particularly accessible - with a great vantage point from the Lake Street bridge. You can walk in and enjoy the mist from the force of the falls - a 150 foot drop - mingling with the anglers and fishermen. There are plans afoot to turn the area into a proper park, but the creek bed is perfect for a quick trip and beautiful walk.
