Kent, Ohio is an historical town located on the Cuyahoga River twenty minutes east of Akron. It’s best known for Kent State and the events of 1970, but in recent years, the town has been expanding its restaurant scene, community events, and connection to the university, making it an exciting place to live. Known as the Tree City, the best time to be in Kent is fall for the changing leaves, and summer for all of the green—a welcome sight after the cold Ohio winter!
Locally owned bar + restaurant downtown.
Bicycle gear + repair shop.
If Kent was distilled into a coffee shop, it’d be Scribbles. They serve organic, fair trade coffee, and sometimes serve coffee roasted in-house. Any given week, there’s new local artists’ work up, a poetry reading going on, or a folk band playing. They have books along the shelves to read and paper lining the tables to scribble on (ha!). It’s a great place to work, chat, or chill.
