The ubiquitous Gali Parathe Waali is another Old Delhi staple which is definitely worth the visit. But which shop do you go to? After all these years of direct competition, it is hard to tell one from the other (and they are all pretty good) but Pt. Gaya Prasad Shiv Charan Paranthe Wale is the most famous, citing the photographic evidence of celebrity patronage on its walls. Try their more unusual offerings, such as lemon or mint stuffed parathas (fried flat bread), which are perfect for the summer. Though at first the thought of a piping hot stuffed bread might not appeal in the heat, you must forge on and trust us! Also of note are classic and outstanding radish and potato paranthas, and the somewhat quirky papad parathas. Go with friends and try multiple kinds, and wash it all down with refreshing kulhads (clay pots) of lassi (chilled yogurt shake).
