NOTA

Neighborhood of the Arts (NOTA) is no doubt the cultural epicenter of Rochester. Back in 2000 it experienced a rebirth when a trail of public art, visual exhibits and installations popped up. ARTwalk, as it was and still is known, catapulted the tired neighborhood into a vibrant, bustling section of town. Now, there is no shortage of art studios, galleries, restaurants, cafes, fitness studios, living spaces, and creative-class businesses occupying salvaged industrial factory buildings and Victorians. NOTA’s diversity of artists, small business owners, and established cultural gems make it a sanctuary for all who want and expect a little more from their community.

While new restauranteurs have come to town to reinvent Rochester’s dining scene in NOTA and other neighborhoods around the city, Edibles has stayed on course serving delicious food and cocktails for over two decades. Patrons of the cozy University Ave establishment feast on classic, American and Mediterranean style cuisine with their own spin. On the night we visited, we found the simple steak frites cooked to tender perfection, a sausage and broccolini ravioli dish with a complex and creamy finish, and a quinoa black been burger with Vermont cheddar that even the most ravenous carnivore would have found both flavorful and fulfilling. Catch up with old friends or bring a first date here for quiet conversation paired with great food and drink.
