Split’s most iconic building is the bell tower that rises out from the Cathedral of St. Domnius. The cathedral was first built in 305 AD as the Mausoleum of Diocletian, as was later converted to a Catholic cathedral. The bell tower was first built in the 12th century, and later rebuilt at the turn of the 20th century. Climbing up to the top is quite a workout (the steps are steep, to say the least), but it is 100% worth it for the view of the city, Marjan Hill, and the sea at the top. A picture here will catch eyes on any newsfeed!
