Ybor City

Back in the day, Ybor City was home to the world’s largest cigar rolling factories and the central hub for hispanic refugees to make new lives. Today, although some of those factories still stand, they are occupied by some of our favorite restaurants, bars, and after-work hangouts. From sushi and breweries to the historic architecture, Ybor City offers some of the coolest places to visit. The City also boasts multiple historic hispanic clubs including the Cuban Club, Centro Asturiano, and El Centro Español de Tampa. Overall, Ybor is a modernization of some the coolest history Florida has to offer.

Although this museum is on the smaller side, it’s packed with historical artifacts and information on the upbringing of Ybor City. They offer tours of the museum, Ybor City itself, and probably one of the cooler aspects, a tour of a recreated cigar worker’s house. Discover the origins of Ybor, the cultural impact that the city had, and just in case you ever needed to know, step by step instructions on how to roll a cigar.
