Downtown & Yaletown

Vancouver's dense and diverse centre is home to the city's main arts and cultural venues, sports stadiums, major shopping districts and the wild, rambunctious nightlife of the Granville Entertainment Row. To its immediate south-east, the former industrial lands of Yaletown have transformed since the 90's into one of the densest residential neighbourhoods in North America. Packed with great restaurants and fun little shops, and bounded by a scenic stretch of the False Creek waterfront, it is a must for any visitor to the city.

A Vancouver original, JAPADOG is the Lost in Translation of downtown's lunch scene, as delicious as it is wonderfully quirky. Their only fixed restaurant location on Robson Street offers a broader menu than the food carts and trucks, including the absurd and amazing Yakisoba noodle hot dog, the cheese encrusted and unfortunately-named Love Meat, and the Age Ice - 3 ice cream scoops in a hot dog bun. This is a guilty pleasure you should indulge in. So do wait in line, and please try the seaweed fries.
