Downtown & Yaletown

Vancouver's dense and diverse centre is home to the city's main arts and cultural venues, sports stadiums, major shopping districts and the wild, rambunctious nightlife of the Granville Entertainment Row. To its immediate south-east, the former industrial lands of Yaletown have transformed since the 90's into one of the densest residential neighbourhoods in North America. Packed with great restaurants and fun little shops, and bounded by a scenic stretch of the False Creek waterfront, it is a must for any visitor to the city.

Yaletown's iconic brew pub is still going strong, recently adding a liqour store, micro distillery and a new distillery pub to its flagship pub / restaurant. At the original location, the casual atmosphere is inviting to all, as evidenced by the diverse crowd at all times of day. It is brighter and more open than your typical pub, reliably blasts classic guitar rock, and boasts one of the best patios in town. The beer is great, of course, but so is the food. Featuring a long list of pub faves, including a fantastic chicken schnitzel sandwich, gooey mac and cheese (add the bacon) and a great assortment of pizzas (our picks are the Johnny Mac and grilled shrimp). Sunday lunch is a great deal - $10 thin-crust pizza and $4.50 pint. Can't beat that.
