Others have tried to copy and steal their recipes and techniques time and time again, but Lee’s Donuts has never been matched. One of the originals on Granville Island, this wonderful family-run shop is one of Vancouver’s best places, period. Peek into the shop window early in the morning to watch 33-year veteran, Alvin, hand roll, cut, and dip every donut. They cannot count the infinite amount of donuts they have made since 1979 because each batch is made-to-order; and it’s never been about the numbers, but about doing it well. Regulars know the daily schedule and buy out the day’s first batch of donuts, freshly glazed, before they have even left the cooling racks. The classic honey-glazed is without compare.
