Covent Garden is a popular tourist spot that is defined between Long Acre (north), Strand (south), Drury Lane (east) and St Martin’s Lane (west). It quite literally has a colourful past, known for its fashionable fruit and vegetable market then later becoming a red light district. Nowadays you can still experience the beautiful buildings and hidden windy streets that house many major cultural venues, independent shops and cafes, world-class restaurants and high-end hotels.
This small, unassuming bakery hidden on Rose Street is a real treat, with traditional Swedish biscuits and cakes at the core of the offering. Owner and pastry chef Daniel Karlsson prepares everything daily on site in his basement kitchen, so freshness is guaranteed. There’s a few tables to sit down, but whether you stay in or take away, don’t miss the cinnamon buns or coconut pyramids.
