Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a popular tourist spot that is defined between Long Acre (north), Strand (south), Drury Lane (east) and St Martin’s Lane (west). It quite literally has a colourful past, known for its fashionable fruit and vegetable market then later becoming a red light district. Nowadays you can still experience the beautiful buildings and hidden windy streets that house many major cultural venues, independent shops and cafes, world-class restaurants and high-end hotels.

Since opening in London in 2013, Balthazar has been consistently busy, much like its original counterpart in New York City. That’s why we suggest you head early to the boulangerie next door for a more casual but equally delicious bite, before the crowds flock. There’s takeaway coffee, sausage rolls, sandwiches, sweet pastries, baguettes and more, but if you can find a seat, it’s worth sitting in for the upmarket Parisienne vibe.
