Covent Garden is a popular tourist spot that is defined between Long Acre (north), Strand (south), Drury Lane (east) and St Martin’s Lane (west). It quite literally has a colourful past, known for its fashionable fruit and vegetable market then later becoming a red light district. Nowadays you can still experience the beautiful buildings and hidden windy streets that house many major cultural venues, independent shops and cafes, world-class restaurants and high-end hotels.
The lunch time queue is worth the wait at Kastner and Ovens. Pick up a box and fill it with fresh salads and hot food, and don’t forget a slice of cake on the way out. The vibe is home-cooked and its daily changing menu is updated on their Facebook page where you will see the huge variety there is to choose from.
