Both Al Ahmadiya School and Heritage House take visitors to Dubai's forgotten past. The neighbouring buildings are walking distance from the Gold Souk, and are currently museum spaces for visitors to enjoy. The Al Ahmadiya School was built in 1912 and was the first school to be established in Dubai. The Heritage House is much older, which traces back to the late 1800s and belonged to a pearl merchant. Both structures were renovated in the Nineties to become museums, now occupied by dusty mannequins who look frozen in time. For a quick history lesson of how daily life in the city of Dubai used to be, or to simply have a look at cool, traditional architecture, this is the place for you.
