Deira

Historically being the original downtown of Dubai, Deira is still just as important today as it was during the city’s early beginnings. Located close to the Creek, which has been a source of international trade and commerce, Deira is home to a community of diverse cultures, religions, and dreams. Anyone who’s had the privilege of growing up in Dubai has definitely encountered Deira one way or another. A bustling area filled with shops, souks, street food and museums, Deira allows for experiencing the neighbourhood on foot, which is a rarity in Dubai. With the constant development and growth to becoming a modern city, Dubai’s 'downtown' has shifted in recent years to more contemporary parts of town. However, being mildly impacted by these significant changes, Deira has pretty much stood the test of time, looking the same and functioning as it always has, which is part of it’s beauty and charm.

One can't possibly miss Middle East Stationary when visiting Deira. If you're lost, keep a look out for the oversized striped pencil on display outside the store entrance, which has been proudly hanging since the 1980s. Middle East Stationary has been in the same location since opening its doors – a rarity in a city like Dubai. Prior to the academic school year, the store is guaranteed to be filled with large families shopping for their children's stationary and school supplies. If you're looking for office furniture, arts and paper products, or stationery, you will not be disappointed with their sufficient range of brands to choose from.
