Davis Square

Officially designated as a square by the City of Somerville in 1883, Davis Square has a long history as a nearby neighbor to downtown Boston. However, it wasn't until the late 1980's that the square and surrounding blocks began to boom, after the MBTA extended the Red line to Davis. Today, Davis is a vibrant nightlife and dining district bustling with a unique mix of hipsters, college kids, young parents, and professionals. It's got everything one might need—but if not—you'll find yourself a short five stops on the T to Park Street Station and downtown Boston.

Smack in the heart of Davis is the Somerville Theater, lighting the square at night with it’s neon marquee. At any given weekend, you’ll find a unique combination of new release movies, concerts, comedy shows, and even independent documentaries on limited release. Depending on the season there can be silent films showing, or even entire Film-A-Thons in 35mm such as the Terror-Thon during halloween. *Pro-Tip: Get your tickets early before they sell-out, and grab a drink or dinner nearby.*
