Schönbrunn

You couldn’t find two neighbourhoods less similar than these two, despite being directly connected through the Schoenbrunn Palace Gardens. Meidling has often been called “Gelebte Vielfalt”, which literally means “Diversity at Work.” Hietzing, on the other hand, is considered one of the most upmarket neighbourhoods in the city. You won’t find many tourists aside from in the palace gardens itself whilst roaming around this part of Vienna. If you’re more curious about how the locals really live, join me in discovering authentic food joints, quirky museums and afternoons spent in the café, watching people relax and read the daily news. Let’s go!

Zauberkasten Museum

Were you a fan of magic sets? This quirky little museum is hidden in the cellar of a residential building. With more than 3,000 magic sets from three centuries and from all over the world, this place is definitely worth a visit. It’s the biggest magic set collection worldwide. Given that you might have been a nineties kids as I was, it was even in the Guinness Book of records. Fabulous, right?
