Schönbrunn

You couldn’t find two neighbourhoods less similar than these two, despite being directly connected through the Schoenbrunn Palace Gardens. Meidling has often been called “Gelebte Vielfalt”, which literally means “Diversity at Work.” Hietzing, on the other hand, is considered one of the most upmarket neighbourhoods in the city. You won’t find many tourists aside from in the palace gardens itself whilst roaming around this part of Vienna. If you’re more curious about how the locals really live, join me in discovering authentic food joints, quirky museums and afternoons spent in the café, watching people relax and read the daily news. Let’s go!

Bebelhof

The city of Vienna is Europe’s biggest landlord. Many of the buildings that belong to the government were built before or after the world wars, and while some might not be too fancy, others are what I would call paradise on earth. At least for the people who live in them. Years ago I used to live in the Bebelhof before moving across the street. I’d recommend to take a peek into the grand backyard, which is accessible to the public (just don’t tell anyone I told you), sit down on the bench and enjoy the view.
