Schönbrunn

You couldn’t find two neighbourhoods less similar than these two, despite being directly connected through the Schoenbrunn Palace Gardens. Meidling has often been called “Gelebte Vielfalt”, which literally means “Diversity at Work.” Hietzing, on the other hand, is considered one of the most upmarket neighbourhoods in the city. You won’t find many tourists aside from in the palace gardens itself whilst roaming around this part of Vienna. If you’re more curious about how the locals really live, join me in discovering authentic food joints, quirky museums and afternoons spent in the café, watching people relax and read the daily news. Let’s go!

Milchbart

Have you ever seen a restaurant owner arrive on their skateboard with the groceries for the day? No? Then you haven’t been to Milchbart yet! Milchbart is hard to describe. It can be found at the district market, in a little hut akin to those you’d have visited for your vegetables in times gone by. With only around four tables, the city’s hipsters sit alongside the neighbourhood folk, and everything you get on your plate, in your mug or your glass will have that magic touch that leaves you feeling as if you are in the comfort of Grandma’s kitchen. It’s awesome!
