Schönbrunn

You couldn’t find two neighbourhoods less similar than these two, despite being directly connected through the Schoenbrunn Palace Gardens. Meidling has often been called “Gelebte Vielfalt”, which literally means “Diversity at Work.” Hietzing, on the other hand, is considered one of the most upmarket neighbourhoods in the city. You won’t find many tourists aside from in the palace gardens itself whilst roaming around this part of Vienna. If you’re more curious about how the locals really live, join me in discovering authentic food joints, quirky museums and afternoons spent in the café, watching people relax and read the daily news. Let’s go!

Palmenhaus Schönbrunn

This is a large greenhouse featuring plants from around the world. It’s also one of the largest exhibits of its kind worldwide, featuring around 4,500 plant species really impressive, given that it’s not that big. Don’t get me wrong it’s big. But not that big. It’s the perfect place to visit in winter when you crave tropic humidity, and you can go there on your way to the zoo, or before you spoil yourself with a canapé at Trzesniewski.
