Schönbrunn

You couldn’t find two neighbourhoods less similar than these two, despite being directly connected through the Schoenbrunn Palace Gardens. Meidling has often been called “Gelebte Vielfalt”, which literally means “Diversity at Work.” Hietzing, on the other hand, is considered one of the most upmarket neighbourhoods in the city. You won’t find many tourists aside from in the palace gardens itself whilst roaming around this part of Vienna. If you’re more curious about how the locals really live, join me in discovering authentic food joints, quirky museums and afternoons spent in the café, watching people relax and read the daily news. Let’s go!

Gloriette

The park of of Schloss Schönnbrunn is quite interesting. Tourists come here to show off their selfie sticks, but what I found far more interesting is that locals come here for a run. There is a trail up to the Gloriette that you’ll spot immediately once you are at the back of the palace. Gloriette used to be a banquette and breakfast hall for the Habsburgs, and while there is indeed a café that you can visit, I’d much rather recommend to you to bring your own wine, a blanket and wait for the sunset. It’s mesmerizing!
