Schönbrunn

You couldn’t find two neighbourhoods less similar than these two, despite being directly connected through the Schoenbrunn Palace Gardens. Meidling has often been called “Gelebte Vielfalt”, which literally means “Diversity at Work.” Hietzing, on the other hand, is considered one of the most upmarket neighbourhoods in the city. You won’t find many tourists aside from in the palace gardens itself whilst roaming around this part of Vienna. If you’re more curious about how the locals really live, join me in discovering authentic food joints, quirky museums and afternoons spent in the café, watching people relax and read the daily news. Let’s go!

Café Dommayer

This is quite an elegant place perfect if you want to read your newspaper in style. Make the most of it with a glass of Viennese wine and a slice of Sachertorte. Since Café Dommayer is not in the center, you won’t see many tourists. It’s where the locals come to have lunch, drink coffee, chat or sit quietly next to another over a good book. No one’s going to rush you here. This is the real Vienna! The surrounding neighbourhood is also quite chic, so your pearl earrings won’t even feel out of place!
