For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.

The 76 Carriage Company stables aren’t so much a destination as they are a surprise to stumble upon. If you ever visit Old City, you’ll undoubtedly come across a horse-drawn carriage or two, and these stables are simply where the horses are when they’re not working. You can’t actually do anything at this location, but more often than not you can see a horse or two outside, and if you’re lucky an owner or driver will be around to boast about his/her horses.
