For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.
Made-in-Philadelphia jeans, totes, belts, aprons and more.

When Good Spoon opened up in the area it was a breath of fresh air—it’s the perfect lunch spot in a sea of bars of coffee shops. The space is light, bright and elegant...and so is the food. Homemade soups (many of them vegan and gluten-free) are ever-rotating, so keep an eye on their instagram for daily updates, and they keep a fridge stocked with salads and sandwiches as well. As someone who doesn’t always love banh mi sandwiches, the tofu banh mi is crazy good.
