For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.
Made-in-Philadelphia jeans, totes, belts, aprons and more.

Que Chula dishes out some of the best Mexican north of Market Street. The interior is equal parts humble and full of pride, and it can be a great birthday party spot. Blankets and sombreros line the wall, the windows are filled with neon and covered with security bars welded into mountainous landscapes. Recommended: carnitas tacos, chicken burrito, all of the tortas.
