For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.

Fishtown’s Ekta has ruled the Indian cuisine scene in this area for many years, but newcomer Tandoor is worthy competition. This is the kind of restaurant that I’d be inclined to take out or have delivered, but the indoor seating area is humongous, so it could be great for larger groups, and the outdoor area is great, even/especially with the El lumbering overhead.
