For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.

Paesano’s isn’t just the best sandwich shop in the area (it borders both Northern Liberties and South Kensington), it might just be the best in all of Philadelphia. Although the Paesano seems to be the collective favorite, my go-to order is the Gustaio: lamb sausage with cherry mostarda, gorgonzola and broccoli rabe in a pita wrap. It’s ridiculous.
