For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.
Made-in-Philadelphia jeans, totes, belts, aprons and more.

If the idea of fighting off the crowds at La Colombe a few blocks away is too much to handle, stop by Gryphon Coffee for a more low-key experience. Nestled inside the expansive residential loft complex of Oxford Mills, this equally lofty cafe has plenty of tables—and wifi—to get a little work done. Enjoy an iced coffee on nitro or a nice hot cappuccino. Not a coffee drinker? Check out the shelves behind the counter for a pretty great tea selection as well.
